Introduction to Portraits of Farm Animals
These are the animals that have made life in Morocco possible for millions of human beings. For centuries they have given their lives and their bodies to sustain the human population. As well the products of their reproductive efforts: milk and eggs are exploited to feed the human population. Many rural people understand their vital connection to animals and treat them with a degree of kindness and respect. Others merely exploit them without any consideration for their well being as living creatures in many ways not that very different from ourselves. With these portraits I attempt to show my respect and affection for them as individuals.
